The description details the system I somehow thought up while talking to Enigma. All characters are unique to thier creators and as such, should be treated fairly. But, some may think, "Why does one character have the power to say KABOOM and destroy everything while I just kill them one by one?" Well, I found a way for everyone to be happy to be where they are. Power isn't everything, but power decides your best opponents and your worst enemies.
First, there are 4 power scopes: MASSIVE COMBAT- Power so great, it seems almost unavoidable. They take on 500 others and still keep going. SPECIAL COMBAT- In certain situations, you seem unstoppable. Whether it be your devices or the distance you keep between you and your target, It makes a difference to keep it there. GENERAL COMBAT- "Expect the unexpected." Is the best way to describe it. Found to be decent in everything and have the knowledge and/or logistics to counter what it needs SINGLE COMBAT-Your prowess and skill in fighting a single person is so great that if the armies fought you 1 by 1, there wouldn't be anything able to stop you. Now the power scopes fit into one another as such: One counters another. With this system, if everyone had a certain power scope, we could tell who would win a battle if unchecked and unchanged. MASSIVE<SPECIAL- Special combatants are so set into a certain role that they act almost as a kill switch to the powerful attacks that a Massive combatant can throw. EXAMPLE-This is like Enigma's uncanny ability to create devices, and with them used BY him can thwart the plans of a Massive power scope like Mangetsu's. SPECIAL<GENERAL- The general knowledge and preparations of general combatants are such that they take away Special combatants' situation before they can become problems or make sure the situation was never there. EXAMPLE- Ramah's general knowledge of tactics and situational awareness keeps Omnicyde's sniper abilities in check by keeping the range close enough that a sniper rifle is no good as long as Ramah knows he is there. GENERAL<SINGLE- Single combatants are so good at fighting and evading that the knowledge of the General combatant cannot play any factor in such a concentrated area. EXAMPLE-Adrammalech, though not used in more than 1 story, can fight off Ramah with his pure skill and evasive movements, making general tactics useless against it. SINGLE<MASSIVE- The Massive Combatant's power scope is such that the evasion and skill of a Single Combatant is almost irrelevant. EXAMPLE- Mangetsu's massive plans and power is such that it would overwhelm Crystalis' abilities in single combat prowess if left unchecked. Weaknesses out of the way, how about deadlocks? There are 2 deadlocks in every power scope: Same and Opposite. MASSIVE=MASSIVE- The power scopes cancel each other to the point that it really is only making the surroundings worse off. EXAMPLE- Mangetsu and Sephiroth rarely leave a city intact after beating each other senseless. Though both are defeated, both deadlocked each other into it. MASSIVE=GENERAL- The preparations and tactics of a General combatant is such that the Massive power scope is contained at the worst of times, negated at the best of times. EXAMPLE- Scarab's Power can destroy a building, but if prepared, Ramah can take the punishment and keep on going to fight on and damage Scarab. Deadlock happens. SPECIAL=SPECIAL- Since both are trying to one up the other in special circumstaces, neither are really fighting as much as denying the other thier help. EXAMPLE- Enigma's devices may keep a bullet from killing him, but he can't take the range away from Omnicyde, nor can Omni break the barrier. Deadlock. SPECIAL=SINGLE- Single Combatants have enough sense to move away and hide to keep out of a special situation against them, but can't always close into single combat. EXAMPLE- Omnicyde, try as he may, can't seem to hit Crystalis with any rounds due to evasion, but Crystalis can't close the distance while concentrating on where the next shot may lead. Deadlock. GENERAL=GENERAL- The combined tactics and preperation of both makes armies die in a deadlock. Countering Countered Counters. EXAMPLE- In a war game, Zazi and Ramah face off, only to find each other thinking counter strategies to whatever the other is thinking. Deadlock. GENERAL=MASSIVE- covered above in MASSIVE=GENERAL SINGLE=SINGLE- The combat skills against one another seems to be all misses or all 1-for-1 blows. In deadlock, either both will leave unscathed or in tatters. EXAMPLE- Crystalis and Tanchu both are fighting, but the combined parrying of Tanchu and evasive movement of Crystalis makes for alot of air being cut to ribbons. SINGLE=SPECIAL- covered aboive in SPECIAL=SINGLE There we go, the reason on why gods of death do not mean unfair story making. ^^ Have fun with your unique characters, and wherever the battles may lead. If this sounds interesting to you, we can try it out as a new character sheet instead of the stats we assign to the attributes. -------------------- Proud soldier of the US Army.
